Services

From data collection to research access

NDP provides the infrastructure, expertise and managed services needed to support neurological data throughout its lifecycle.

Our services can be delivered as part of a fully managed TRE Hub, or used individually to complement existing research infrastructure.

NDP cube pattern

The operational complexity, handled

From establishing governance and securely ingesting data through to specialist imaging and genomic processing, data discovery and researcher access, our team manages the operational complexity behind research data — so that programmes can focus on delivering excellent science.

Built on SeRP’s secure research infrastructure and more than a decade of experience supporting complex research programmes, our services are designed to be scalable, flexible and tailored to the needs of each programme.

Service 01

Managed TRE Hubs

NDP provides an end-to-end managed service for research programmes that need a secure environment in which to hold, manage and provide access to sensitive data.

Each programme can retain its own identity, website, research community and governance arrangements while NDP provides the infrastructure and operational machinery behind the TRE Hub.

Services can include infrastructure, data ingestion, data management, governance support, researcher onboarding, access provisioning, secure analysis environments and output management.

Benefits
  • Avoid the cost and complexity of establishing standalone TRE infrastructure.
  • Access established operational and governance processes.
  • Scale infrastructure and services as the programme grows.
  • Retain programme identity and appropriate control over data.
  • Allow programme teams to focus resources on research rather than infrastructure operations.

How we set up a hub

Build a sophisticated data capability without creating every component yourself

We start by understanding your scientific plans, data flows, participant relationships, governance responsibilities and anticipated research community — then configure a Hub from the infrastructure and services you need.

We can support a new programme from its earliest stages, or help an established resource move to a more sustainable operating model.

1

Design the data and governance model

2

Agree terms with data providers and partners

3

Establish secure data collection and transfer routes

4

Create a dedicated, branded TRE

5

Develop ingestion and curation pipelines

6

Build discovery and application processes

7

Manage researcher access and project environments

8

Support operations, technical needs and compliance

9

Sustain with a cost-recovery approach beyond initial funding

Your programme continues to lead the science and its community. NDP manages the complexity behind the data.

Service 02

End-to-end data management

Our specialist team manages data from initial acquisition through to secure researcher access. We work with data providers and programmes to establish appropriate transfer arrangements, ingest and validate data, manage documentation and metadata, undertake curation and maintain data throughout its lifecycle.

For multimodal collections, we coordinate data types within a coherent approach — including longitudinal cohort data, clinical information, cognitive measures, imaging, genomics, biomarkers, biosample information, patient-reported outcomes and device-derived data.

Benefits
  • Dedicated expertise without building an internal data management function.
  • Consistent and auditable data management processes.
  • Improved quality, documentation and research readiness.
  • Management of complex and multimodal collections.
  • Clear processes from data acquisition through to researcher access.

Service 03

Data governance advice & support

Effective governance is fundamental to making sensitive data available for research. NDP provides practical governance expertise to help programmes develop proportionate, robust arrangements for data deposit, management, access and use.

Our experience includes governance for complex and emerging research methods, including artificial intelligence, federated analysis and synthetic data.

Benefits
  • Draw on established governance frameworks and practical TRE experience.
  • Reduce the time required to develop processes from scratch.
  • Support responsible innovation while maintaining participant and data provider trust.
  • Establish clear, auditable processes for data access and use.

Service 04

Imaging data services

NDP provides specialist pipelines for the management and processing of medical imaging data. Raw imaging data can be securely ingested, quality checked, de-identified, standardised and processed to create research-ready data.

Pipelines can include imaging defacing, standardisation, quality assessment, metadata creation and the generation of derived measures, tailored to different imaging modalities and research requirements.

Benefits
  • Transform complex raw imaging collections into usable research assets.
  • Standardise processing across large collections.
  • Reduce manual processing requirements.
  • Support secure de-identification and quality assurance.
  • Integrate imaging with other clinical and research data.

Service 05

Genomic data services

NDP provides secure infrastructure and specialist workflows for storing, managing and processing genomic data alongside other research data.

Our scalable storage and compute infrastructure enables programmes to manage large genomic collections while supporting appropriate governance, controlled researcher access and integration with complementary phenotypic, clinical and imaging data.

Benefits
  • Secure management of large and sensitive genomic datasets.
  • Scalable storage and processing capability.
  • Support for established genomic workflows.
  • Enable multimodal research combining genotype and phenotype.
  • Reduce the infrastructure burden associated with genomic research.

Service 06

Data discovery

NDP provides intelligent discovery tooling that helps researchers understand what data is available before applying for access.

Researchers can search metadata across participating TRE Hubs, explore variables, compare datasets and identify complementary data assets relevant to their research question.

Benefits
  • Make valuable datasets easier to find.
  • Increase visibility and reuse of programme data.
  • Help researchers identify appropriate datasets before applying.
  • Support cross-dataset and cross-programme research.
  • Reduce inappropriate or poorly targeted access applications.

Service 07

Collaborative research spaces

NDP can provide secure collaborative environments where approved researchers from different organisations can work together with data, analytical tools and shared research resources.

Environments can be configured around the needs of individual projects, programmes, workshops or collaborative initiatives, providing appropriate compute, storage and analytical tooling — including specialist software and high-volume data processing — while maintaining TRE security controls.

Benefits
  • Enable secure multi-institutional collaboration.
  • Bring researchers, data and analytical resources together.
  • Provide environments tailored to project requirements.
  • Avoid individual institutions having to establish separate infrastructure.
  • Support collaborative analysis while maintaining appropriate controls.

Service 08

Data collection & participant recruitment

NDP supports research programmes that work with highly characterised research participants and participant registers. We can provide the data infrastructure and services needed to manage participant information, support study feasibility and enable appropriately governed routes to recruitment and re-contact.

Benefits
  • Connect data infrastructure with research delivery.
  • Support identification of suitable research populations.
  • Enable appropriately governed recruitment and re-contact pathways.
  • Support longitudinal research programmes and participant registers.
