Privacy  policy

The Neurological Data Platform (NDP) is the SeRP TRE for neurological data and is hosted by Swansea University.

Swansea University takes the protection of personal and research data seriously. Personal data processed in connection with NDP is handled in accordance with applicable UK data protection legislation, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

This page explains how information may be collected and used when you visit the NDP website, create an account, submit an application or contact us.

Research data and NDP

NDP provides a secure environment through which approved researchers can access research data contributed by participating data providers.

Research datasets made available through NDP Hubs are governed by the agreements and conditions under which they have been deposited.

Access to research data is not automatic. Researchers must complete the appropriate application and approval processes and agree to the conditions governing access and use of the data. Applications may also require approval from the relevant data provider or data guardian.

Research data is processed within secure environments operated by SeRP at Swansea University and is subject to appropriate technical, organisational and governance safeguards. These include controls governing researcher access, permitted use of data and the release of research outputs.

Where personal data, including health, genetic or other special category data, is processed for research purposes, Swansea University and relevant data providers will ensure that an appropriate lawful basis and condition for processing applies under UK data protection legislation and that the safeguards required for scientific research are in place.
