Delivered by Swansea University through the Secure eResearch Platform, NDP is a shared foundation for the research programmes and data providers working to understand and treat neurological conditions.

Every neurological research programme needs somewhere secure to hold its data, people to manage it, and fair, well-governed routes for researchers to use it. Too often, each programme has to build all of this from scratch — and then find a way to sustain it once the grant ends.
NDP exists so that programmes can spend less time recreating infrastructure and more time advancing their science.
To make neurological research data easier to hold, share and use responsibly — so that more of it contributes to discoveries that matter to patients and their families.
NDP grew out of years spent running secure research infrastructure — and noticing that every new programme needed much the same things.
Swansea University’s SeRP provides the infrastructure, security framework and managed Trusted Research Environment underneath everything we do.
Showed that distributed cohort, imaging, genomic and clinical data could be made discoverable and securely accessed by an international community.
TBI-REPORTER, BrainWaves and the MND Research Catalyst each needed their own environment and governance — but shared most underlying needs.
One sustainable platform, where infrastructure, governance and expertise are built once and reused across every Hub — with DPUK itself now a dedicated Hub.
Every Hub keeps its own identity, scientific leadership and research community. We manage the complexity behind the data, not the direction of the research.
We don’t take ownership of deposited data or override the people responsible for approving its use. We facilitate agreed processes and implement their decisions.
What works for one programme should benefit the next. Shared infrastructure and expertise make every Hub more capable than it could be alone.
Valuable data resources shouldn’t disappear when funding ends. We help protect earlier investment and keep data available for future research.
Participants, providers and researchers rely on us. We work within an ISO 27001 accredited framework and the Five Safes, and participant-level data never leave the secure environment.
We develop our services alongside researchers, data providers, clinicians, technical partners and public contributors, so they answer real needs.
Whether you have an established data resource, a new programme, or need a home for data beyond the end of a grant — you don’t need a complete technical or governance model before speaking to us.
